I've had a varied career comprised of jobs that can
hardly really be called jobs; from being the Assistant
Executive Director of the Minnesota Golf Association to
the most cantankerous bartender on 7th Street, in Saint
Paul. In between, I've hosted radio shows with
KSTP, WCCO, KFAN and National Public Radio. I'm
especially proud of the tag Charley "Shooter" Walters of
the Pioneer Press pinned on me: "Minnesota golf's
premiere raconteur." Politically, I've come full circle,
from a series of post-college decades to the left of Che
Guevara to my present locale a jot right of Louis the
14th. I moved up to Brainerd to be close to my
grandchildren, whose escapades I oversee with a mixture
of immense pride and sheer terror. My creed has
always been: "I'd rather have a lot of time to spend a
little money than a little time to spend a lot of
money." I sincerely hope the time you spend with our
show, The Speakeasy, gives you plenty to think about,
and also to chuckle about. Lastly, to all you
golfers out there: Hit 'em hard. They'll land
somewhere.
